The Business of Innovation
While Steve Fambro provided the aerodynamic spark for Aptera, Chris Anthony provided the fuel to keep the fire burning. With a background in finance and a track record of taking companies public, Anthony brought the necessary business acumen to the startup. But he was far from just a suit; he was a creator in his own right.
Master of Batteries and Boats
Anthony's expertise is uniquely suited for building electric vehicles. He founded Epic Boats, where he pioneered the use of advanced composite materials to build lighter, stronger watercraftâknowledge that was directly transferable to Aptera's lightweight body. He also founded and took public Flux Power, a company specializing in advanced lithium-ion battery packs. This deep understanding of energy storage was critical in designing Aptera's efficient powertrain.
The Long Road Back
Like Fambro, Anthony was marginalized by the professional management brought in to run the original Aptera in the late 2000s. After the company's liquidation in 2011, he focused on his other successful ventures. However, when the opportunity arose in 2019 to buy back the intellectual property of the car they had started, he didn't hesitate. He rejoined forces with Fambro as Co-CEO.
Scaling the Dream
In the "Aptera 2.0" era, Anthony has been instrumental in securing funding through crowdfunding and strategic partnerships. He oversees the complex logistics of bringing a solar electric vehicle to mass production, proving that a car powered by the sun is not just a science project, but a viable business model.
