The Garage Experiment
Mate Rimac (born 1988) began his journey not in a high-tech lab, but in a garage in Croatia. After the combustion engine in his 1984 BMW E30 blew up during a race, he decided to convert it to electric power. People laughed, calling it a "washing machine," but he silenced them when his "Green Monster" started breaking world acceleration records.
Building the Unbelievable
Rimac didn't just want to make EVs; he wanted to make the fastest cars on Earth. He founded Rimac Automobili in 2009. His masterpieces, the Concept_One and the Nevera, redefined physics, with the Nevera shattering the 0-60 mph record in under 1.85 seconds.
The King of Hypercars
His genius lies in technology. Rimac became the go-to supplier for batteries and motors for giants like Porsche, Aston Martin, and Koenigsegg. In a historic twist, in 2021, the young inventor from Croatia took the reins of the historic French brand Bugatti, forming Bugatti Rimacâconfirming his status as the new king of the hypercar world.
